Eviscerator fanart + Hammer of Humanity by ScrewfaceRomeo Eviscerator fanart + Hammer of Humanity by ScrewfaceRomeo
Fanart of Eviscerator shotguns from Mass Effect, plus a custom version.

The "Hammer of Humanity" was a custom made Eviscerator shotgun made by Cerberus for operative Xander Otarin. Xander had always preferred the Eviscerator, both for it's psychological effects and it's effectiveness against barrier'd enemies at range, but the Hammer was even better: with a longer, heavier caliber barrel and larger thermal clip, he could put out more fire at a time, and with much greater effect. It's modified flechette pattern also wreaked havoc on barriers, and extended heatsink increase rate of fire. The integrated smart pattern-variation system adjusted flechette spread for range, making the weapon just as devastating at any distance. The Hammer was lost during the battle of Thessia, where Xander was forced to leave it behind when the Reapers turned their attention to his mission there. Currently it's believed to be in a police evidence locker on the planet.

Hmm... I wonder how that would stand up against a Space Marine Bolter... Basically, it's a gun that fires a miniature rocket the size of a thumb. That rocket punctures the target and explodes. Very effective. Not my own idea though. Warhammer40k.

I know what WH40K is. The bolter, in case you're interested, was actually inspired by the real-life Gyrojet: [link] though the latter never achieved much success due to fatal design flaws, like firing rockets instead of bullets.

I imagine Mass Effect weapons would trump 40k, being much more advanced technologically, though just as scientifically impossible.

But that depends on which army you're talking about. Eldar outclass everything with their heavy weps. But I think the mentally complete Necrons might just be the best tech wise. But a Tau Pulse rifle... oooh I love it. I LOVE SCIFI!

I like me semi-hard sci-fi, with plausible man-portable railguns ([link])and antimatter rail-artillery. Actually, just anything with rails/Gauss coils.

Astrophysics dude. I'm reading a book series called Into the Looking Glass by John Ringo and Travis S. Taylor. Holy crap dude are they good. In the third book there is a capitol class destroyer that is basically a flying mass driver with a ship wrapped around it.

I use antimatter in my mass driver projectiles and rail artillery. Nukes are sooooo 20th century...

I prefer plasma. Mass Drivers are good if the projectile doesn't disintegrate while going at relative speeds. if you think about it, they're better in space where the projectile won't be fighting air at that speed. The air would act the same as if a meteor is entering the atmosphere. Do you adjust down the speed of the projectile for ground based mass drivers? Plasma would be better in atmosphere due to the propagation of heat. Well, better if it hits the enemy, not in close quarters unless you can figure out how to disperse the heat so it does not propagate towards the rifle or pistol.

Plasma is terrible as a weapon. See this article for why: [link]

Kinetics are much, much better. Cheaper and a lot more deficient.
