New Cordian Expeditionary Corps' APC of choice, the Loggerhead is amphibious and heavily armored. It holds one six-man squad, plus extra supplies and ammo. A squad's Loggerhead is essentially their home, it has fold-out bunks and many troopers will actually sleep while in transit to save time, though this is not recommended by the manufacturer. The T8H variant can even go mano a mano with many tanks.
Would it still have troop transport capability with the ammunition taking up space in the inside, or is there just a small amount of ammo stored in the turret?
Both. The turret is semi-automatic and holds 10 shells before having to be reloaded form the stock in the main body. The Loggerhead only holds 6 troopers, so there is plenty of room for supplies and ammo.
Ah ok, so how wide is the turret? Just because if it's auto reloading it must be pretty cramped in the turret, so i hope theres room for the Mg gunner to stand up.
Wide enough that the MG is off the axis of the gun, leaving enough room for the comander. Although typically the MG is retracted and the turret buttoned up. The MG is only deployed if the main gun and the 20mm coaxial are both out of ammo or if helicopters become an issue.
Actually MG's are widely referred to as the primary weapons on armoured combat vehicles, mainly because infantry are one of the biggest threats to them, and they are used first if they encounter a threat even including another tank. I've seen plenty of footage where Russian tanks in Afghanistan have withdrawn due to overwelming machine gun fire. It's incredible what the sound and reputation of machine guns can do even if nobody's killed by them.
what did you make this in?
The Loggerhead reminds me alot from the real Stryker with the "make plenty of varients using the same vehicule." That one in particular looks like the Stryker MGS.
Yup, the concept was based mainly on the Stryker idea. I'm a big fan of modularity, my rifles are modular, my APCs are modular, ect. Probably the big 'ole 105mm cannon that gave that impression
nice work! they look awesome. i could really use the loggerhead around the farm, you know fight off the deer and moose that invade my property sometimes.
Useful to get rid of those annoying drivers on your way down the road as well.
lol or in my case HUGE tractors going like 3 miles an hour. lol and i know they only riding the tractor in to get beer from town. one of these bad boys would show them!
Them moose can get vicious, bro
lol totally! lol i only half kid, they can really do some damage. one year they got semi caught in my chicken fences and freaked out! destroyed my whole chicken coop. and man are they freaking massive. defiantly need a big gun or tank to take one on.
